Year 1 Teacher – Maternity Cover (January 2026 – July 2026)

Salary: £34,398 – £46,839 (depending on experience)

A warm and welcoming primary school in the Kings Langley area is seeking a passionate and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join their team on a maternity cover basis from January 2026 to July 2026. This role offers an exciting opportunity for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are eager to contribute to a nurturing and dynamic learning environment.
About the Role:
Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons for a Year 1 class, making learning fun and accessible
Adapt lesson plans to meet the diverse needs of all students, ensuring inclusive teaching for all abilities
Support children in developing core skills in literacy, numeracy, and social skills
Create a calm and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages positive behaviour and a love of learning
Monitor and track student progress, using assessment data to inform planning and teaching
Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and parents to foster a close-knit school community
Contribute to school-wide activities, teamwork, and enrichment programs
What We’re Looking For:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching in Year 1 or relevant placements for ECTs
Strong understanding of the Year 1 curriculum, including phonics, literacy, and numeracy
Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
A caring, enthusiastic, and proactive attitude to teaching
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
