This newly created Lead Copywriter role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the university’s written communications. The postholder will be responsible for developing compelling, brand-aligned content across a wide range of marketing campaigns and platforms. Collaborating closely with creative and strategic teams, they will craft impactful storytelling, apply data-driven insights to optimise performance, and mentor junior writers to maintain high standards. This role combines creative expertise with leadership to elevate the effectiveness and consistency of the university’s voice.
What will you be doing?
* Lead and craft copy for integrated marketing campaigns, presenting creative concepts and deliverables to stakeholders.
* Write, edit, and optimise content for various platforms, applying best practice principles including SEO and accessibility.
* Collaborate with the Art Director and wider creative teams to develop compelling stories and strategic campaign concepts.
* Uphold the university’s tone of voice and brand standards across all written communications and channels.
* Use performance insights to refine messaging and improve engagement, while mentoring junior writers to maintain quality.
* Provide expert writing guidance to internal teams and maintain tailored tone of voice resources for key content formats.
You should apply if
* Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, supported by a strong portfolio across diverse content types and channels.
* Solid understanding of marketing principles, audience insight, brand storytelling, and SEO best practices.
* Proven ability to collaborate in fast-paced environments and manage multiple projects to deadline.
* Experience mentoring or managing junior team members, with strong leadership and communication skills.
* Proficiency in content creation tools and platforms, including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and CMS systems.
* Relevant degree or equivalent experience in English, journalism, marketing, communications, or a related field, with evidence of ongoing professional development.
