Attendance Officer

The Role
They are looking to appoint a committed and organised Attendance Officer to join a welcoming secondary school in Reading. This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.
The Attendance Officer plays a key role in supporting student wellbeing, safeguarding, and promoting strong attendance across the school.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality
* First-day calling and follow-up of unexplained absences
* Maintaining accurate attendance records in line with DfE guidance
* Liaising with parents/carers regarding attendance concerns
* Working closely with Heads of Year and pastoral teams
* Supporting interventions for persistent absence
* Producing attendance data and reports for senior staff
* Liaising with external agencies where appropriate
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have experience in an attendance, administrative or pastoral role (school-based experience desirable)
* Be confident communicating with parents, staff and students
* Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail
* Handle sensitive information professionally and confidentially
* Have good IT skills (experience using a school MIS is advantageous)
