Senior Mechanical / Piping Designer - Utilities
The Opportunity
A leading UK engineering and infrastructure provider is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical/Piping Designer to support major clean and wastewater projects across the Utilities sector. You'll be part of an established multi-disciplinary design team delivering concept through to detailed design for critical infrastructure works.
This role offers long-term career development, hybrid working, and the chance to work on projects that directly support sustainability, asset life extension and environmental performance.
What You'll Be Doing
You will be responsible for producing high‑quality mechanical and pipework design deliverables, including:
* 3D models, piping isometrics and detailed mechanical layouts
* General arrangement drawings, Bills of Materials, valve/equipment schedules
* Steelwork support details, specifications and design risk registers
* Site surveys and technical support during installation phases
* Ensuring all design activities align with client standards, design guides and industry procedures
What You'll Bring
* HNC, Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
* Background in clean or wastewater mechanical/piping design
* Familiarity with water sector standards
* Proven experience using AutoCAD and Plant 3D
* Solid understanding of mechanical services, pipework design and utilities‑based engineering
