The Role The Delivery Director is directly accountable for the delivery of the Government’s priorities in all aspects of HMCTS business within Wales including people, performance, resources, and wider corporate governance. Accountable to the Courts and Tribunals Director for providing strategic oversight, ownership and leadership for Wales, the Delivery Director is responsible for delivering service and performance expectations and ensuring that HMCTS continues to improve the service offered to our stakeholders and end users, including vulnerable witnesses and victims. Key Responsibilities Directly accountable for the delivery of all aspects of HMCTS business across Wales, including performance, resource, budgetary responsibility, and wider corporate governance. Work in close partnership with the senior/leadership judiciary in Wales to deliver the aims and objectives of HMCTS. The role holder will need to deliver effectively through others, negotiating and agreeing a way forward which ensures excellent levels of service within Wales. As such, they will be accountable for building and maintaining key strategic relationships with internal, external, cross-government and cross justice sector stakeholders. Develop and maintain effective close working relationships with equivalent roles outside regional operations, particularly in National Services and HQ Service Teams, engaging at a strategic level to deliver service improvement and performance. Liaise with and maintain strong working relationships with Welsh Assembly officials to ensure effective partnership working delivery for the citizens of Wales. Have a lead national jurisdictional responsibility, (for example, Civil) and be the lead operational voice providing operational input to shape service development strategy, building, and maintaining senior strategic relationships with Service Owners and Service Teams. Have overall ownership of risk management within Wales and responsibility for ensuring risk management systems are in place to remove or manage identified risks and maintain Business Continuity Plans. Working with the Wales Head of Legal Operations (HoLO), to oversee the effective deployment of legal adviser resources between regional (in-court) activity and national (service-based) activity and escalating issues to Operations Directorate SLT where appropriate. Provide strong leadership, clear direction and support to the Senior Management Team who will set strategic direction for the effective delivery of HMCTS priorities and service level targets within Wales. Champion a culture – both in Wales and nationally - which supports the wellbeing and engagement of our staff, ensures equality, diversity, and inclusion for both staff and users, builds diverse teams, and allows all to feel included, safe, and valued. Lead on wellbeing and capability development of people in Wales and be ultimately accountable for performance standards and regional talent and succession planning and ensuring managers across Wales effectively develop and manage our people. Be visible as a leader undertaking a high-profile representational role for Wales and speaking authoritatively for the organisation, both internally and externally. Champion change and continuous improvement across Wales. The Delivery Director will ensure HMCTS continues to improve the service we offer to users, working with their regional leadership team and colleagues across HMCTS to successfully deliver improvement and implement change across all jurisdictions and services within Wales
