If you’re passionate about supporting care-experienced young people and want to be part of a team that truly makes a difference, we’d love to hear from you. Shifts include a mix of day and backshifts, with every second weekend off to support a healthy work-life balance. Plus, enjoy our unique rota system — 3 days off one week and 2 days off the next — giving you time to recharge and focus on what matters most. Whether you're looking for a new challenge, more flexibility, or a role where your values align with your work — this could be the opportunity for you. We offer a competitive salary of £23,751 to £25,953.20 (£13.05-£14.26 hourly rate) per year, based on a 35hrs FTE depending on skills & experience. Benefits package: Additional on-call payment – £25 per on-call shift. Work-life balance – enjoy 3 days off one week and 2 days off the next. Festive perks – double on-call payments and time-and-a-half pay on key festive dates. SSSC registration fees – fully covered by Step Up. PVG costs – fully covered by Step Up. Annualised hours rota – consistent monthly salary, no surprises. Referral rewards – £100 x 2 for successful colleague referrals. Every second weekend off – guaranteed. Up to 35 days’ holiday (FTE) based on length of service. Birthday half-day off – because you deserve it! Medicash Health Care Scheme – supporting your wellbeing. Extra staff perks – Christmas vouchers, Just Eat treats, & monthly initiatives. 24/7 Employee Counselling Helpline – free and confidential. Company cars for work use – with your own car only needed occasionally (e.g. if a company car is temporarily unavailable). Mileage reimbursement – 45p per mile when using your own car for work. Training & development – grow your skills with ongoing opportunities. Generous pension scheme – planning for your future. Fully stocked staff kitchen – drinks, snacks, and ‘Filled Roll Fridays’! The Role As a Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in shaping futures. You will mentor young people, helping them navigate key areas like employment, education, budgeting, health, home management, and social development. You will be a consistent, trusted presence, someone who listens, encourages, and walks alongside them as they work toward their goals all while fostering a safe and trusting environment. A key part of the role involves providing crisis support and responding sensitively to mental health needs. You will use a trauma-informed and solution-focused approach to help young people navigate difficult moments, build emotional resilience, and access the right support networks. But this role is more than support — it’s about ownership and innovation. Collaboration with other professionals is an important part of the role to achieve positive outcomes and advocate for the rights and wellbeing of the young people you support. You will manage your own shifts with autonomy, ensuring the support you provide is responsive, person-centred, and impactful. Every day is different, and every interaction is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Main Duties & Responsibilities Provide practical, emotional, and social support tailored to each young person’s needs. Mentor individuals to build life skills and confidence. Take initiative in developing and delivering service supports. Work both in the community and in young people’s homes to enhance wellbeing and life opportunities. Collaborate with a passionate team committed to making a difference. Use a trauma-informed and solution-focused approach to help individuals overcome barriers. Promote independence and progression towards mainstream housing. Provide and participate in appropriate care planning, review and assessment whilst ensuring people are central to these processes. Support people to achieve their educational, training or employment options. Promote person supported participation in the community and that they are actively involved in the decision making of their day-to-day environment and activities. What We’re Looking For: Someone who’s compassionate, creative, and proactive. A team player who’s confident managing their own workload and contributing to wider service goals. Experience working with young people is ideal, but attitude and values matter most. Empathy and emotional intelligence, someone who can build trusting relationships and respond sensitively to trauma and distress. Resilience and adaptability, able to stay calm and solution-focused in crisis situations and respond flexibly to changing needs. Strong communication skills, able to engage with young people, families, and professionals clearly and respectfully. Organisational skills, confident managing their own shifts, recording support accurately, and following safeguarding procedures. Additional Requirements Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings and every other weekend. We’re happy to chat about working patterns at the interview stage — we know life isn’t one-size-fits-all. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to help you connect with young people and work effectively with the team and other professionals. Full manual driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes — our support often takes us into the community and to young people’s homes. If you’re passionate about making a difference and want to join a friendly, welcoming, and supportive team, we’d love to hear from you. Additional Information Step Up adhere to 'Safer Recruitment' practices. Please note Step Up do not currently hold a Sponsorship License. Licence/Certification: Manual driving licence and access to your own car (required). While we ask for access to a personal vehicle, the majority of your travel will be in a company car. Your own car would only be needed occasionally — for example, if a company vehicle is temporarily unavailable. So don’t worry, this isn’t something you’ll be using all the time! Work authorisation: United Kingdom (required) Reference ID: Support Worker - Alloa or Falkirk
