Overview
An opportunity to take a leading role in the Lewisham Talking Therapies programme of improvement. We are recruiting an 8b Senior Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist to jointly lead the Step 2 team and lead service development across the service.
The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the continued development and provision of a very high quality therapy service for people with common mental health problems in Lewisham. The Joint Step 2 & Service Development Clinical Lead will be an experienced psychological therapist with extensive NHS Talking Therapies/IAPT experience, and will be part of the management team, working closely with the service lead to support and guide clinical work with a focus on service improvement.
Responsibilities
* Manage the Step 2 team, ensuring efficient day-to-day operation, planning for future demand and monitoring performance.
* Develop and implement strategies to meet national targets around reliable recovery and reliable improvement.
* Plan and manage treatment capacity to meet SE London ICB targets for completed treatments and waiting times.
* Lead the development and promotion of a Quality Improvement approach to service development across the whole service.
* Hold line management responsibility for the Step 2 team, supporting wellbeing and development and managing performance.
* Lead recruitment for senior, qualified and trainee PWPs.
* Collaborate with the service lead to plan future service development and lead specific initiatives.
* Provide high quality specialist CBT supervision and work autonomously within professional guidelines.
* Deliver NICE-recommended, formulation-driven psychological interventions for depression and anxiety, and provide specialist assessments and formulations for clients with complex needs.
* Maintain clinical governance, risk management, and performance reporting; contribute to service user engagement and outcome measurement.
* Travel to community settings and across the Trust as required.
About Us
The post-holder will work within the Lewisham Talking Therapies Service, a team of approximately 100 WTE staff across multiple bases. The service serves a diverse population with a range of common mental health problems and varying levels of severity, and is committed to equal opportunities.
Qualifications
Essential
* Qualified CBT therapist from an IAPT-approved High Intensity training at postgraduate diploma level or equivalent
* Practitioner accreditation status with BABCP
* HB supervision training for High Intensity Therapists (HI)
Desirable
* Additional therapy qualifications (e.g., EMDR, IPT, DIT, Couples/Systemic)
* PWP qualification
Experience
Essential
* Significant experience in staff management (line management, performance management, appraisal) and implementing major service improvements
* Experience as a NHS Talking Therapies service manager and providing clinical supervision for HI therapists
Knowledge
* Advanced knowledge of NICE-recommended therapy model(s) for TT
* Advanced knowledge of disorder-specific formulations and evidence-based treatments
* Strong understanding of psychopathology and outcomes-based practice
