Key Roles and Responsibilities
As a Painter and Decorator, your responsibilities will include:
* Prepping and paint surfaces to the highest standard
* Hanging various types of wallcoverings would be an advantage but not essential
* Collaborating on a wide range of projects ensuring project deadlines are met and exceed client expectations
* Monitoring decorating material stock and request new stock as required
* Ensure all work is carried out within the approved budget
* Maintaining high quality work while ensuring safety regulations are met
* Adding special finishes where necessary such as stains and varnishes
Person Specification:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications, experience, and attributes:
* NVQ or City and Guilds trained
* Good all-round knowledge and previous experience in a similar role
* Ability to work as part of a team or on your own
* Great attention to detail
* Customer focussed
* CSCS Card
* Full UK Driving License
Work will be carried out on both private & commercial premises; often these will be occupied.
You may work as part of a team &/or alone.
Health and safety is an important part of this work and you will need to always follow building regulations and Company procedures.
Working hours
Contracted Hours – 39 hours per week. However, a degree of flexibility is required in order to carry out your duties and you may not unreasonably refuse to work overtime in order to meet deadlines.
You would travel between jobs, and some contracts will involve overnight stays away from home.
Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS)
You will need to have a CSCS card before you can work on site. The card is proof of your skills and ability to carry out the job safely. To get your card, you must:
* pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test
* Prove your occupational competence (by holding appropriate qualifications).
* If you are working without qualifications, you may be able to use the On-site Assessment Workshop or Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA) schemes to gain a qualification and qualify for a CSCS card. See the Assessment Workshop and EWPA websites and contact CSCS for further information.
