About the RoleA Batley High School, in partnership with Hays Education, is seeking a dedicated andpassionate Trauma & SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team for a long-term placement. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people by providing emotional and educational support in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide one-to-one support for students experiencing trauma or emotional difficulties.
2. Assist teachers in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
3. Implement tailored strategies to help students manage behaviour, build resilience, and engage in learning.
4. Work closely with pastoral staff, SEN teams, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
5. Encourage positive relationships and promote student wellbeing across the schoolmunity.
Requirements
6. Experience working with trauma, counselling, or mental health in an educational setting.
7. Strongmunication skills and the ability to build trust with young people.
8. Relevant qualifications in counselling, psychology, or teaching support (preferred but not essential).
9. Resilience and empathy to support students through challenging circumstances.
