About the Role Barker Ross is recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist in mechanised irrigation and water management. They are seeking a hands-on Irrigation Engineer to join their growing team. This is a practical, varied role-not a repetitive maintenance position.
You will work on large-scale irrigation equipment, including:
* Irrigation booms and hose reels
* Pumps and pumping systems
* Hydraulic systems
* Diesel-driven equipment
* Electrical control systems, automation, sensors, and controls
The role combines hands-on work with technical problem-solving, both in the workshop and occasionally on customer sites. You'll work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, service, and repair mechanised irrigation systems
* Diagnose faults on pumps, motors, valves, hydraulic systems, diesel drives, sensors, and control systems
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
* Liaise with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors
* Identify improvements to reliability, efficiency, and system performance
* Maintain accurate service and project records
About You
* Strong practical ability and broad technical mindset
* Experience as an Irrigation Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer, Pump Engineer, or similar
* Knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, pumps, electrical control systems, automation, sensors, or manufacturing equipment is advantageous
* Enjoys practical engineering and problem-solving
* Works independently and takes ownership
* Communicates effectively with customers and colleagues
* Organised, reliable, and eager to develop specialist engineering knowledge
* Full UK driving license required
