6 Month Temporary role £30.00-35.00 ph Remote working UK based Full Time 38 hours per week There is flexibility to reduce this to 4 days per week if preferred Product Sustainability & Customer Engagement role is with our client who set science in motion to create a positive impact for our customers, suppliers, shareholders, associates and the communities in which we work and live. They advance sustainability through science for goodness, shaping a culture aligned with their values and governing principles. To evolve and advance these efforts, they are seeking a sustainability professional to lead strategy and implementation for their customer engagement and sustainable product portfolio programs. The Product Sustainability and Customer Engagement contractor reports directly to the VP, Global Sustainability. As a key member of the team, this person will collaborate with internal and external customer teams, as well as key functional partners in R&D, sourcing, and IT on product sustainability programs including certifications and footprint initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of sustainable product development combined with communications and interpersonal skills, and is comfortable working in a matrixed environment. MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance) Execute product life-cycle pilot project, including working cross-functionally to collect required information, documenting processes and making recommendations for improvements to platforms, processes. Manage the company's Environmentally Preferable Products program, reviewing submissions, educating suppliers on program requirements, and working with IT to improve data management. Also update promotional materials and resource library, including product brochures, supplier communications, and relevant databases. Support commercial and sales teams in directly engaging customers on sustainability strategy and offerings. Facilitate sustainability certifications for select products, including ACT labels. Use sustainable design knowledge to serve as an internal expert for our R&D, Sourcing, Portfolio Management and Packaging teams. Deliver communications materials and tools to support Sourcing, Marketing and Commercial teams in the development and promotion of more environmentally sustainable products and services QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications) BA/BS in environmental science, sustainability, green chemistry, product design, or related degree. Relevant experience in applying ecodesign and life cycle thinking inside a business setting, including recommendations and action plans Demonstrated success working in cross-functional teams Life sciences, pharmaceutical, or health industry experience a plus. Experience working in global teams preferred LCA, Cradle to Gate experience a plus KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently) Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Capacity for handling multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines Ability to collaborate across various cultures as well as work independently Business acumen Ability to develop and present ideas and trainings clearly, concisely and effectively.
