The Role:
To oversee and manage all aspects of the firm's financial operations in accordance with the applicable regulatory frameworks, generally accepted accounting principles and compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules, ensuring accuracy, integrity and timely reporting in all areas.
The Accounts Manager will be responsible for an operational team of six people comprising legal cashiering, purchase ledger, billing and credit control functions.
Essential skills & experience:
· Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in legal finance or similar professional services role
· A fully qualified member of a recognised accounting body
· Proficiency in legal accounting software
· Ability to manage a busy team
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable experience:
· Familiar with the principles of accounting for client assets and the associated regulatory environment.
· Current knowledge of VAT / PAYE procedures and legislation.
· Experience of working within a mid-sized owner managed business.
Your responsibilities will include the following:
Production of monthly MI reporting packs, KPI's and monitoring the financial performance of the firm.
Production of annual profit and equity sharing accounts for the partnership.
Maintenance of partner current accounts, drawings and profit distributions.
Responsible for profit and loss and balance sheet control within the monthly reporting cycle.
Ensure compliance of all departmental procedures with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
Complete quarterly VAT returns and provide appropriate advice as to the correct treatment for business costs and revenue.
General liaison with the Partnership Accountant.
System administration of the firm's banking and practice management platforms.
The role involves an element of out of hours working (2-3 hrs per month) in support of month end procedures.
