We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Kingston. As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor (AQS), you will support the Quantity Surveyors in managing costs related to building and civil engineering projects. Your responsibilities will include assisting in estimating, budgeting, contract administration, and ensuring financial aspects are effectively managed to maximize profitability while maintaining quality standards.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
1. Assist in preparing accurate cost estimates during tendering.
2. Support the development and maintenance of project budgets.
3. Gather and analyze data on material costs, labour, and equipment.
4. Help prepare and manage contracts, including reviewing terms and conditions.
5. Monitor contract compliance and assist in resolving disputes or variations.
6. Assist in managing sub-contractor contracts and agreements.
7. Measure and value work completed on-site for interim valuations.
8. Assist in preparing and submitting client payment applications.
9. Handle subcontractor payments and ensure timely reconciliation.
10. Support procurement of materials and subcontractor services.
11. Obtain quotes and negotiate favorable terms with suppliers.
12. Monitor project costs and prepare regular cost reports.
13. Identify cost-saving opportunities and flag potential overspends.
14. Support in preparing final accounts for projects.
15. Assist in identifying project risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
16. Participate in resolving financial or contractual issues.
17. Ensure all work adheres to legal, contractual, and company standards.
18. Maintain accurate records of costs, contracts, and communications.
Qualifications:
A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Driving License
* Background in Social Housing
* Strong numerical and analytical skills
* Basic understanding of construction methods and building regulations
* Good communication and negotiation skills
* Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks
* Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
