Saint John’s is a one-form entry Church of England Primary School. We value being part of a caring and culturally diverse community. Our aim is to be a school where we all flourish, children and adults alike. The Governing Body of Saint John’s C of E Primary School is seeking to appoint individuals who care about children and are passionate about providing support to individual and groups of children.
The role involves working every morning and for at least three afternoons a week, to be discussed further at interview. The role is likely to be based in Year 2 to begin with, although there is some flexibility, depending on the experience and interests of the best candidate. Teachers and teaching assistants work in different year groups, so an ability to be adaptable about age group is important. In addition, all teaching assistants will be deployed across the school supporting the learning of the children in a classroom and/or supporting an individual child or small groups of children, as best suits the needs of the school.
We are looking for those who will:
1. Be caring and enjoy working with children in a school environment
2. Be willing to support the Christian ethos of the school
3. Form secure and supportive relationships with the children and their families
4. Have a calm demeanour and a good sense of humour
5. Work effectively as a team member and can use their own initiative
6. Have a good level of English and Maths skills to support these areas of the curriculum
7. Maintain confidentiality at all times as appropriate
We can offer you:
1. A happy school with vibrant, enthusiastic and well-behaved children
2. A welcoming and dedicated team of staff
3. A supportive Governing Body
4. A commitment to support your own professional development.
Saint John’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All applicants will be required to provide two suitable references which will be sought prior to interview. As part of our due diligence within safer recruitment, the school will explore any gaps or anomalies within the application form and online searches will be carried out to help identify any incidents or issues which may need to be discussed at interview. The successful candidate will be subject to all necessary pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, a prohibition check, qualifications (where applicable), medical fitness, identity and right to work. We are an equal opportunities employer. Details of the policies and procedures we have in place in school can be found on the school website.
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
