About the learner:
1. Diagnosis: Autism Spectrum Disorder, hyperflexible joints, awaiting audiology assessment
2. Communication: Pre-verbal; uses hand-leading, gestures, vocalisations, Makaton, and visual supports
3. Learning: Developmental delays across multiple domains, short attention span, prefers highly structured, adult-led activities with visual cues
4. Social & Emotional: Mild-mannered, can become overwhelmed in noisy environments, benefits from clear routines and sensory strategies
5. Sensory: Mixed hypersensitivities/hyposensitivities; uses sensory-seeking behaviours and benefits from a sensory diet and proprioceptive activities
Strengths:
6. Cheerful, loving nature with good engagement in sensory play and visual learning
7. Able to make choices and imitate adult actions during play
8. Enjoys construction and structured activities
9. Self-regulates by removing himself when overstimulated
Role Requirements:
10. Deliver EYFS English & Maths through play-based learning
11. Use Makaton, visual timetables, objects of reference, and sensory activities
12. Build engagement and independence through structured, motivating sessions
13. 10 hours per week, delivered at the family home in Caterham
14. Experience with Autism and early years education essential
