Offer description

A vacancy has arisen for a Flight Sergeant (Any Profession) to serve as Joint RN/RAF Recruiting Information Technology System (RITS) RAF Product Owner (PO) at HQ RAF Recruiting and Selection (R&S), RAF Cranwell on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 06 April 2026 (or earlier/later, subject to candidate status). Brief description of role: The R&S RITS RAF PO is the RAF’s customer representative in the development team, working collaboratively with their opposite number in the RN, the contractor-delivered technical support team, and the RAF’s System and Business Administrators, to maintain and develop the RITS app as part of a Continuous Improvement programme. Working within an Agile methodology, the PO is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of User Stories and Epics, prioritising the fault and capability enhancement backlog, and representing the RAF’s needs in Joint change management boards. Full training will be provided including industry recognised training as a Pega Systems Business Architect, and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation training. Applicants should be aware that the Armed Forces Recruiting Programme is due to replace s-S recruiting organisations with a contracted recruiting solution and an Army-led t-S HQ, assuming responsibility for RAF recruiting operations from 1 Apr 27. Dependent on how much support sS HQs are required to provide to the winning contractor during transition to the new arrangements, this post will be disestablished at that date or shortly afterwards. Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: Act as the RAF RITS PO, working collaboratively with the RN PO to manage change within the RITS system, to support maintenance, process development and the fixing of bugs and issues. Manage the Bugs and Issues Backlog, ensuring it is maintained in priority order and that required User Stories are generated as required. Prioritise the workload and direct the DISMA Business Architects to complete the required User Stories in priority order, to deliver change in a timely manner. Working collaboratively with the RN PO, manage and direct all system change management processes and assure reference data changes, liaising closely with SO3 Recruiting Processes and SO2 Policy and Forecasting to ensure any changes are documented and disseminated promptly. In conjunction with the rest of the Digital Innovation, Systems Management and Analytics (DISMA) team, provide first-line support for RAF users, including out of hours emergency cover in co-operation with the RN PO. Act as lead RAF SME for investigating RITS defects, liaising with the RN PO as appropriate. Act as R&S tactical-level RITS SME with external agencies, and advise other R&S project leaders of any impacts to and from RITS as a result of their plans. Any other duties detailed by SO2 Plans & DISMA.
