IT Infrastructure Engineer Location: Derby (with occasional travel to other UK offices). Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday with additional hours as required for maintenance and support cover. We are seeking a highly capable IT Infrastructure Engineer to join a forward-thinking and security-conscious professional services organisation. This is a key role that will involve maintaining and developing core IT infrastructure across on-premise and cloud environments, providing both project and operational support to business-critical systems. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in managing and implementing network and infrastructure technologies, combined with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach. This position offers the opportunity to lead initiatives in areas such as system upgrades, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and technology innovation. Key Responsibilities Lead and support infrastructure-related projects including system upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery testing. Maintain, monitor and support cloud and on-premise infrastructure (including servers, storage, networking, virtualisation and backups). Support the security infrastructure including firewalls, endpoint protection, VPNs and vulnerability scanning. Implement system updates, patching schedules and capacity planning procedures. Provide 2nd/3rd line technical support and act as an escalation point for the IT Service Desk. Liaise with third-party support providers to ensure infrastructure remains secure and performant. Contribute to documentation, policy development and compliance procedures, including GDPR, ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials. Key Skills and Experience Proven experience in a similar IT infrastructure or systems engineering role, ideally within a professional or regulated services environment. Strong technical expertise across: Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Intune, Exchange Online Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Active Directory and Group Policy Networking (DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VPNs, switches) Backup, recovery, and virtualisation technologies Experience supporting IT security frameworks, ISO 27001, vulnerability management and system audits. Knowledge of ITIL-based support processes and change management. Scripting and automation knowledge is desirable.
