Job Title: HGV Class 1 Day Driver (Portsmouth) Type: Temporary Pay Rate: £16.95 - £20.50 per hour Location: Portsmouth Start Date: Immediate Are you an experienced Class 1 Day Driver with an HGV/LGV Category CE licence? We are recruiting for a well-established customer in Portsmouth, being responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of temperature-controlled/food distribution operations. Requirements: Valid HGV Class 1 (Category CE) licence. Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card. Previous Class 1 driving experience, ideally within temperature-controlled or food distribution operations. Good understanding of driver hours, working time regulations, and road transport legislation. Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and maintaining product integrity. Flexible and reliable with a strong work ethic. Key Responsibilities: Safely operate Class 1 refrigerated vehicles delivering chilled and temperature-controlled products throughout the UK. Ensure all loads are transported in accordance with temperature control requirements and company procedures. Complete deliveries and collections to distribution centres, food manufacturers, retailers, and customer sites while providing excellent customer service. Carry out daily vehicle and trailer checks, reporting defects promptly. Monitor and maintain temperature records where required, ensuring product quality is protected throughout the journey. Ensure all loads are secured correctly and transported safely. Complete delivery documentation, PODs, defect reports, and other transport paperwork accurately. Adhere to driver hours legislation, working time regulations, and company health and safety policies. Maintain regular communication with the transport office regarding route progress, delays, or operational issues.
