Assistant Accountant
The role involves supporting the Finance Manager with financial reporting, monthly management accounts, and playing a key part in a major finance system change. Line management of the Finance and Payroll Officer offers an opportunity for someone who is calm, organised and collaborative.
Responsibilities
* Support monthly management accounts, cashflow preparation, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.
* Oversee payroll processes, providing day‑to‑day direction to the Finance and Payroll Officer.
* Assist with system improvements, including contributing to the selection and implementation of a new finance system.
* Maintain robust financial controls, including reconciliations, audit preparation, credit control and fee/income processes.
Qualifications
* Experience in a similar finance role with strong Excel skills and solid accounting knowledge.
* Experience overseeing or supporting payroll activities.
* Ability to work accurately, meet deadlines and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
* A calm, organised and methodical approach, with confidence in supporting colleagues and adapting to new systems.
