Accounts Assistant
Office based full time - Monday - Friday (9am - 5.30pm)
Location: Olney, Bedfordshire
Salary: £28,000
The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join a busy finance team in a hands-on, varied role. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll support both the purchase and sales ledger functions, helping ensure accurate financial records and smooth day-to-day operations.
Ideal for someone organised, detail-focused, and confident working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Ledger & Invoicing
1. Raise chargeable callouts and service-related invoices
2. Produce daily zero-rated invoices against works order numbers
3. Raise weekly PPM invoices
4. Resolve rejected customer invoices with supporting documentation
5. Process credit notes with appropriate authorisation
6. Support credit control by chasing outstanding debt and resolving queries
Purchase Ledger
7. Match, code, and process purchase invoices against purchase orders
8. Investigate and resolve supplier account queries promptly
9. Liaise with suppliers to ensure payments align with cashflow forecasts and credit terms
10. Prepare supplier payments via online banking and issue remittances
11. Reconcile supplier statements and maintain aged creditors reports
General Finance Support
12. Maintain the accounts email inbox
13. Raise and amend purchase orders as required
14. Distribute customer purchase orders to relevant project managers
15. Support month-end deadlines
16. Undertake filing and ad-hoc finance duties as required
About You
17. Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant role
18. Good understanding of purchase and sales ledger processes
19. Comfortable dealing with customers and suppliers
20. Highly organised with strong attention to detail
21. Able to work to deadlines
