With offices in Exeter and Ivybridge, South West Norse delivers professional services across building surveying, architectural design, M&E engineering, project management and estate management. This vacancy is for an additional Building Surveyor to support our project portfolio. Hours: 37 per week. Location: Exeter. Salary: Up to £44,149.04 per annum (DOE).
Responsibilities
* Oversee complex refurbishment and maintenance projects up to £1 million, for large public sector clients with a continuous stream of repeat business.
* Produce your own design and technical drawings, prepare tender documents, undertake contract administration duties, project management and site monitoring to ensure compliance and quality control.
* Lead quality assurance across projects and services to meet client needs and ensure adherence to relevant legislation.
* Undertake site surveys related to condition/building surveying, schedules of condition, dilapidations, measured surveys and planned maintenance; conduct defect analysis including analytical investigation, research and preparation of technical reports.
* Collate and present findings to internal and external stakeholders, offering solutions and recommendations where required.
Our Successful Candidate
We are ideally seeking a Building Surveyor with 3-4 years of experience, but we welcome applications from more junior or graduate surveyors who show potential and are keen to develop. You will demonstrate suitability through:
* Ideally you will hold (or be working towards) a Professional Chartered Membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS); we are happy to support someone through this process, so this is not essential at the outset.
* Experience in design, contract administration and project management of construction projects of varying size and complexity.
* Knowledge of Building Regulations, Health and Safety and other relevant construction and building surveying related legislation.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and negotiate with all levels of internal and external parties.
* Ability to work independently with minimal support or within a large multi-disciplinary team.
* A strong design background and proficiency in AutoCAD.
