SEN Teaching Assistant - Mainstream Secondary School
Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a degree and a passion for supporting young people?A supportive and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Barking & Dagenham is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from now until the end of the academic year, with the strong possibility of extension into September 2026 for high-performing candidates.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Support students with SEND across KS3 and KS4
* Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions tailored to individual needs
* Adapt learning resources in collaboration with teaching staff
* Assist with behaviour support and promote an inclusive, positive environment
* Work closely with the SENCO and wider support team on student support plans
* Build strong, professional relationships with students, staff, and parents
Requirements
To be considered, you must have:
* Previous experience working in a UK school setting
* A degree in any subject
* Experience supporting students with SEND, such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SpLD or speech & language needs
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* A patient, resilient, and proactive mindset
* Confidence supporting learning within a busy secondary environment
