We are seeking Despatch Operatives to join our dedicated team at the Highland Meats site in Saltcoats. As a Despatch Operative, you will help ensure the accurate and efficient preparation and despatch of goods in a fast-paced production environment. Responsibilities
* Pick, pack, and prepare orders for despatch according to customer specifications.
* Decanting, stock rotation, scanning, and labeling of goods.
* Ensure all goods are correctly labelled and documented.
* Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
* Maintain accurate records of despatched items using warehouse management systems.
* Inspect goods for damage or discrepancies before despatch.
* Follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) — training will be provided to ensure full compliance.
* Maintain a fast-paced working environment in line with production demands.
* Work collaboratively with the manager and team to achieve departmental targets.
* Promote and maintain Health, Safety, and Hygiene standards in accordance with company rules and regulations.
* Liaise with couriers and transport teams to coordinate deliveries.
* Keep the despatch area clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
* Assist with stock control and inventory checks as required.
* Report any issues or delays to the Despatch Supervisor promptly.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment (desirable).
* Good attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
* Basic IT skills for data entry and record-keeping.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* Forklift licence (desirable but not essential).
Shift pattern
Monday – Friday
9am – 5.40pm
Starting rate
£12.21 per hour
