Due to the continued expansion of our portfolio of survey services we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Marine Engineer to join our team in Irvine, Scotland. The role will involve the provision of effective maintenance of all boats, survey equipment and promoting the safe operation of vessels. Time will be split between working in our workshop and aboard our inshore survey vessels. Due to continued expansion, we are seeking a qualified Vessel Skipper to support our growing hydrographic and geophysical survey operations Candidate Requirements NC or higher-level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical) Previous experience with: Caterpillar and Cummins diesel engines & generators Suzuki outboard engines or similar Self-motivated and able to work effectively under pressure Strong team player with the ability to work independently when required Well-presented, hardworking, and detail-oriented Excellent problem-solving skills Positive, can-do attitude Fluent in English (spoken and written) Full UK driving licence Must live within commuting distance of Irvine, Ayrshire Key Duties: Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs on boats, engines, and associated equipment Perform routine workshop tasks, including: Testing and maintaining boats, trailers, and survey equipment to ensure full operational readiness (Full training provided on industry-specific equipment) Complete tasks in line with the planned maintenance schedule Diagnose and identify causes of operational issues and faults Source and order replacement parts; consult schematics and technical documentation as needed Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records and documentation What We Offer Permanent, full-time position Competitive salary, based on experience Flexible working arrangements Generous holiday allowance – 30 days including bank holidays Company pension scheme Opportunities for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) within a forward-thinking, progressive survey company Candidates must live within (or be willing to relocate to) a commutable distance of the company’s head office in Irvine.
