We have a temporary Warehouse Operative position available at TATA Steel's Llanwern Works, perfect for someone with strong manual handling skills who is adaptable, a good communicator, and safety-conscious.
Position: Warehouse Operative
Location: TATA Steel, Llanwern Works, Newport NP19 4QZ
Pay: £11.66/hour (basic), with a 25% shift allowance (£14.58/hour). Overtime available at 1.5x (£17.49/hour) and 2.0x (£23.32/hour)
Contract: 6 months initially
Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts on a 6-week rotating schedule, averaging 37.5 hours per week. Shifts cover days, nights, and weekends, so flexibility is essential. Each 12-hour shift includes two unpaid 30-minute breaks.
Key Responsibilities:
* Dispatching materials according to client requests
* Handling goods on both inbound and outbound shipments
* Upholding Health and Safety standards and encouraging others to do the same
* General housekeeping duties, such as stock takes, quality checks, and reporting damages
* Operating machinery (training provided)
Essential Requirements:
* Previous experience in a warehouse or production environment
* Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills
* Computer literate
* Solid understanding of UK Health and Safety regulations
* Capable of manual handling, including lifting bulky items and standing for long periods
Desirable:
* Full driving license with access to a car
* Knowledge of the steel industry
