Role Purpose The EYFS Teaching Assistant will support children aged 3–5 in Nursery and Reception, helping them develop confidence, independence, and key early learning skills. You will assist with teacher-led lessons and child-initiated play, while providing targeted support to pupils who need additional help. A key part of this role involves working with children with SEN, EAL, and additional learning needs, ensuring they can access learning effectively and feel included within the classroom environment. Key Responsibilities Support EYFS curriculum delivery through structured and play-based activities Provide one-to-one and small group support for children needing extra help Assist with phonics, early reading, writing, and numeracy skills Support pupils with SEN and emotional or behavioural challenges Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and independence Support daily classroom routines, transitions, and activities Assist with outdoor learning, physical development, and creative play Observe, assess, and record children’s progress Collaborate with teachers, EYFS staff, SENCO, and parents Support personal care needs where necessary Follow safeguarding, health, and safety procedures The Ideal Candidate The school is looking for a nurturing, reliable, and patient EYFS Teaching Assistant with a strong interest in Early Years and SEN support.
