Working Pattern
* 12 weeks training; first weeks Monday‑Friday 9:00‑17:00.
* Thereafter, regular shift hours Monday‑Friday 10:00‑18:00 STC.
What You Will Do
* Follow a highly regulated end‑to‑end sterilization/decontamination process on surgical instruments used in operations in local NHS and private hospitals, ensuring they can be used again safely for the next patient.
* Ensure effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, surgical instruments, and equipment) by decontamination, inspection, assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
* Rigorously check, wash, lay up and pack sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications within predefined quality standards.
* Operate and monitor machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilizers) safely and effectively.
* Record and log repairs and missing instruments or equipment on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
* Return repaired instruments or equipment to stock or the appropriate coded sets, or to the Trust’s appointed person.

Access to a Level 2 Healthcare Science Assistant Apprenticeship!
This is a 12‑15 month fully funded programme studying good scientific practice for the healthcare profession. Completed on the job, you are given 20% of your working hours to study towards the qualification. Further apprenticeships are available throughout the course of your career.
Required Experience
* Educated on good general standard with demonstrable verbal and numerical abilities.
* Basic end‑user IT skills to operate track and traceability IT systems.
* Whether you have no experience whatsoever, or have previously worked in the healthcare industry, we want to hear from you!
