Software Certification Engineer (Mid-level & Senior)
Overview
Some software never gets a second chance.
That’s why this work matters.
This role sits at the intersection of safety-critical software, real aircraft, and real certification decisions, across both civil and defence aviation programmes.
You won’t be stuck on a single platform or a never-ending loop of document churn. Instead, you’ll move between multiple projects, systems and domains, keeping the work technically fresh and professionally credible.
The focus is on certifying airborne software changes for aircraft that are already flying. Systems that must meet DAL A / B objectives before they ever leave the ground again. Cabin systems, onboard networks, embedded components, modifications driven by real-world operational needs, all under genuine regulatory scrutiny.
You’ll be part of a UK-based team working closely with:
* Systems and design engineers
* Global suppliers and partners
* Certification authorities and regulators
This is hands-on certification work with visibility, ownership, and impact. Not theoretical compliance.
What makes this role attractive
* A mix of civil and defence aviation programmes
* Exposure to multiple aircraft systems and projects, not just one
* Direct involvement in DO-178C certification activity (DAL A/B)
* Collaboration with regulators rather than working in isolation
* Mature engineering environment with established processes and tools
* Hybrid working (typically 3 days onsite)
* UK and international collaboration and travel
Levels & experience

If you enjoy variety, technical depth, and working on software that genuinely flies, this is a role worth exploring.
