R S Cockerill are a family business based at Dunnington, near York supplying fresh, quality packed potatoes to the discount retailers and foodservice sector, as well as supplying the major crisp manufacturers with processing potatoes, helping to make some of the nations most recognisable snacks. We operate throughout the potato supply chain from delivering seed potatoes to farms, right through to distributing the finished product to our customers. All of this activity is supported by our own transport operation, served by a fully equipped workshop at Barmby Moor, near Pocklington. We operate 14 HGV units to support 90 trailers ranging from flats to root crop bulkers, curtainsiders and insulated vans. As well as an extensive farm machinery inventory. If you like a bit of diversity, working on a wide variation of machinery, then please read on: Job role: Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will be required to: Carry out all maintenance tasks to ensure compliance with Operator O licence requirements. Service and repairs of vehicles to a high standard, from company cars, HGVs through to farm machinery. Prepare vehicles for annual MOT inspections and periodic internal inspections. Diagnose faults and make necessary repairs in a timely and professional manner. Maintain vehicle check and inspection records via computerized system R2C. Attend machinery and vehicle breakdowns as required. General workshop duties as instructed by the Workshop Manager. Follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures. Job requirements: Candidates will be expected to possess: Relevant HGV/Land Based technician qualifications, (NVQ level 3 or equivalent). Full UK driving licence. Access to own transport due to location. An HGV CE licence (Class 1) is preferred, but not essential. Be experienced in welding and fabrication. Good level of communication skills, with the ability to understand and share verbal instruction in English. Be able to work as part of a team, and take instruction. Possess good literacy, numeracy and basic IT skills. Willingness to work variable hours and be flexible to the needs of the business.
