About the Role
The role involves managing the receipt, procurement, and delivery of minor building and engineering works, ensuring services meet customer expectations and budget. You will consult with customers throughout the process, from initial request to final delivery. Working closely with the Maintenance Services Delivery and Projects team, you’ll ensure a smooth and coordinated service experience.
Responsibilities
You'll support the Asset Life-cycle Manager in planning and managing term and cyclical maintenance contracts, helping to deliver cost‑effective improvements. The role also includes procuring external service providers in line with University regulations and overseeing their performance to ensure value for money and compliance. All works must adhere to statutory legislation, best practice, and the University’s Health and Safety Policy. You’ll maintain accurate project documentation, oversee quality control, and be able to confidently challenge contractors and find a satisfactory resolution for any issues that arise when necessary. Additionally, you’ll work collaboratively with a small team of Maintenance Assistants to ensure efficient delivery of minor works and projects.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 therefore the successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
About the Team
You will be working within our busy Facilities and Estates team to deliver and manage minor works across City and Coach Lane Campuses and all of our accommodation blocks.
Qualifications
* Comprehensive knowledge of the work practices, processes and procedures relevant to the role, such as procurement, delivery and management of minor works.
* Working knowledge of cost estimation, technical specification in relation to minor building projects and associated M&E requirements.
* Working knowledge of cost estimation and technical specification in relation to minor mechanical and electrical engineering works.
* Clear understanding of the standards and regulations set for the conduct and output for the role.
* Working knowledge of the activities of other areas of the University relevant to the role.
* Comprehensive knowledge of H&S legislation.
