About the Role:
We are seeking a committed, experienced, and motivated Supervising Senior Caseworker to join our specialist Immigration and Legal Aid team. This senior-level position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services across our immigration practice. You will report directly to the Department Director and be responsible for managing your own complex immigration caseload while supervising, developing, and supporting a team of lawyers and caseworkers.
This role combines technical legal expertise, mentoring, and operational oversight. You will lead by example in providing Legal Aid and private immigration services, fostering a culture of continuous learning, compliance, and compassion in line with our firm’s values.

Joining us as a Senior Caseworker with IAAS Supervisor status means more than casework — you’ll help shape the culture, standards, and direction of our Legal Aid services. You’ll provide supervision, manage legal risk, and contribute to life-changing outcomes for clients, supported by a collaborative team.
Main Responsibilities of the Role:
* Provide technical leadership and direct line management to caseworkers, trainees, and solicitors.
* Manage a portfolio of Legal Aid and private immigration matters including:
* Asylum, human rights, and detention work; Victims of trafficking and torture; Entry clearance appeals, judicial reviews, and tribunal cases.
* Oversee case allocation and capacity planning across the department.
* Prepare and manage Legal Aid funding applications and related documentation.
* Draft high-quality legal documents (witness statements, representations, bundles).
* Attend conferences, hearings, and court as required.
* Deliver internal training, support supervision standards, and ensure legal quality across the team.
* Contribute to business development, networking, and firm marketing initiatives.
Key Skills Required:
* Practicing Certificate (valid) and IAAS Level 2 Senior Caseworker accreditation (required at application time).
* Proven supervisory experience managing caseworker performance and KPIs.
* Excellent knowledge of immigration, asylum, detention, and public law work.
* Strong knowledge of Legal Aid funding, billing, and compliance processes.
* Exceptional client care skills, especially with vulnerable individuals.
* Collaborative leadership style with a focus on training and mentoring.
* Solid advocacy experience is advantageous.
* Strong IT and case management system skills.
* Experience in advocacy in immigration tribunals.
* Experience in private client immigration and/or adoption matters.
* Familiarity with internal audit, capacity reporting, and team performance monitoring.
