Job Description
With the climate and biodiversity crisis, weather extremes, and challenges to water quality and supply, the Environment Agency’s (EA) work is more critical than ever. This is a significant and impactful time to be a Deputy Director within our Flood Risk Directorate (FCRM).
We seek a dynamic, enthusiastic leader to head our Digital, Data, and Evidence (DDE) team, delivering essential technical services including:
* Digital services to help the public understand flood risk
* Digital services supporting EA's asset management
* Flood risk modelling and hydrology support services for better risk understanding, asset management, incident response, and land use planning
* Data management and improvements for FCRM
You will set the strategic direction for service design and delivery, aligning with EA and Defra strategies. You will influence standards and play a key role in strategic change initiatives, including new operating models. You will represent FCRM on EA's Transformation Delivery group to coordinate transformation efforts.
The DDE team is newly established, and you will embed recent changes, set the vision, develop service plans, establish team identity, and foster a high-performing culture.
Responding to flood or environmental incidents is central to our work. You will have an incident response role, with training and potential additional pay, supported by flexible working arrangements.
The team comprises 120 multidisciplinary specialists across England. You will have eight direct reports (seven managers and one PA).

* Making strategic decisions balancing risk and reward
Desirable
* Relevant qualifications or professional accreditation
* Understanding digital product development and Agile practices
Additional Information
You can be based at any EA office with home working options. Some travel is required, mainly to London, Birmingham, Bristol, and other EA locations, with prior planning and overnight stays.
