You can do more than two days if preferable) Closing date: 12pm on the 27th of April 2026 The Role The Infrastructure Industry Innovation Partnership (i3P) is a client-led community bringing together organisations from across infrastructure and construction to collaborate on innovation and drive transformational change. i3P is supported by a Secretariat provided by Connected Places Catapult (CPC). Its programme develops and delivers projects that accelerate progress in key areas such as productivity, carbon reduction and safety, while sharing best practice and helping innovative ideas move into widespread adoption. We are seeking a leader with the expertise to guide the continued growth and evolution of the programme at a critical time for infrastructure development and renewal, as set out in HMG’s 10-Year Infrastructure Strategy. The role focuses not just on innovation, but on delivering adoption at scale and real-world impact. The post holder will bring the credibility and profile needed to represent i3P with senior leaders across industry, government, funding bodies and key stakeholders. They will work closely with the i3P Client Group in a complex and fast-evolving environment. A pragmatic, proactive and adaptable approach is essential to deliver results and drive progress across the programme. The post holder will be responsible for the operational management of i3P through the Secretariat. They will lead on a full range of operational and strategic activities including, but not limited to, strategy delivery; business plan development; financial oversight; process & procedure development; developing strategic relationships; communications; membership and business development, while also, when required, delivering day-to-day tactical engagement. A key responsibility of the role is to drive cross-sector collaboration in line with our 2024–2027 strategy. The post holder will ensure i3P’s work is visible and well connected across relevant industry groups and organisations, aligning activity with industry needs, government policy, and funding opportunities. This will maximise value for members and enable i3P to build on its successes by accelerating the adoption of innovative solutions at scale. Key Responsibilities Leadership: Provide day-to-day leadership of i3P, supporting the Client Group and Delivery Leadership Group Co-Chairs. Strengthen i3P’s reputation and develop a clear, compelling value proposition for members. Delivery: Oversee, coordinate, and report on the i3P Annual Business Plan for the Client Group, Delivery Leadership Group, and Connected Places Catapult Head of Infrastructure and Construction. Ensure effective monitoring and reporting of the i3P collaborative innovation programme. Support the identification and pursuit of public and private funding opportunities and help build a pipeline of future collaborative projects. External engagement: Develop relationships with strategic stakeholders to enhance the reputation of i3P as a key influential organisation in the successful application of collaborative innovation in the infrastructure sector. Membership: Drive active engagement and contributions from existing i3P members whilst recruiting new members with a focus on diversity, scale and collaboration. Administration: Provide an effective and efficient central Secretariat function including: financial oversight of the i3P operating budget; effective collection of income (subscriptions); efficient management of cost; and effective reporting of progress through the Balanced Scorecard. Connected Places Catapult Liaison: Work closely with CPC teams across all sectors and technologies to understand their activities, identify relevant opportunities, and support the Secretariat. Job responsibilities Strategy & Delivery: Lead the implementation of the i3P strategy and programme, ensuring delivery meets member and stakeholder expectations. Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate the transfer of knowledge within and between infrastructure groups, promoting collaboration and cross-sector learning. Networking & Collaboration: Organise workshops, meetings and events to connect industry peers and foster new collaborative opportunities. Innovation & Funding: Help businesses access innovation support and guide the development of funding and investment applications. Advocacy & Profile: Promote the value of i3P and Connected Places Catapult across infrastructure and other sectors. Technical Awareness: Maintain a strong understanding of scientific and technical developments relevant to UK infrastructure sectors and construction delivery. Financial Oversight: Manage programme resources effectively, ensuring financial accountability and value for money. Planning & Management: Ensure all activities are well-planned, adequately resourced and efficiently managed. Cross-Team Collaboration: Work with CPC teams to raise i3P’s profile and ensure engagement across sectors, identifying opportunities and synergies. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Proven track record of leading large, complex programmes in multi-stakeholder environments. Relevant programme or project management qualification (eg. APM, PRINCE2, MPLA). Recognised as credible and active within the innovation and infrastructure delivery landscape. Agile and confident working across sectors, including technology and business, at all organisational levels. Strong understanding of infrastructure and construction supply chains and how innovation can transform the sector.
