Why Join KPMG as an In-House Overseas Tax Manager?
The role is within KPMG UK’s Internal Partnership Tax Team, responsible for dealing with all tax matters relating to KPMG UK. This role specifically involves reviewing and advising on overseas tax and reporting requirements when KPMG UK colleagues travel or work overseas for business or personal reasons.
What will you be doing?
* Advise the business on overseas tax issues arising from business travel, managing the resulting overseas tax compliance.
* Oversee the work of assistant managers and assistants in the team.
* Assess potential overseas corporate tax filing positions and prepare relevant reports, emails, or notes to determine the way forward, including assessing the permanent establishment position.
* Collaborate with the wider Internal Partnership Tax team on employment tax, indirect tax, and social security matters related to overseas travel.
* Coordinate with overseas advisers to ensure all tax and regulatory issues are considered when assessing overseas tax risks.
* Work with specialists in other areas (e.g., immigration, IT, EU Posted Worker requirements) to evaluate risks associated with working overseas.
* Manage overseas tax compliance filings and payments across various countries, including reviewing tax calculations and liaising with KPMG member firms.
* Review responses prepared by team members regarding requests from client-facing colleagues to work overseas.
* Implement policy changes related to overseas travel within the firm.
* Contribute to process improvements and the development of reporting technology.
* Coach and manage the performance of team members.
* Lead training initiatives for new and existing team members regarding their roles and tasks.
* Delegate tasks effectively to meet tax compliance and business deadlines, reviewing work and providing feedback.
What will you need to do it?
* Qualified CTA or ACA
* Experience in a corporate or international tax role
* Strong understanding of overseas tax issues
* Excellent project management skills
* Sound judgement for risk evaluation and decision-making
* Effective communication skills at all levels, both oral and written
* Confidence in dealing with senior stakeholders
* Teamwork skills, including delegation and staff development
* Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and SharePoint
* Respect for confidentiality
