Locum Consultant Breast Radiologist

Applicants are invited to apply for a Locum Consultant Breast Radiologist post.
NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group are recruiting for a Consultant in Breast Imaging who shares our ambition and vision tosupport our communities to live healthier, happier, fairer livesand has the drive to take us forward by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
The post is based across two sites (Royal and Aintree Hospitals) and the appointee will join the existing team of seven Consultant Breast Radiologists currently working within the wider multidisciplinary team.
The post is full-time 12 moth Fixed Term, (10 PA's) is subject to a 3-month probationary period of internal assessment.
The department offers a wide breadth of both diagnostic and interventional services.
This role will require an exceptional communicator who will be politically astute and quickly able to develop strong relationships internally and with a wide range of external stakeholders
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have completed formal training in radiology with experience in Breast Radiology.
Role and responsibilities for this post involve all aspects of screening and symptomatic breast imaging work including Mammography, Ultrasound and MRI.
Contribute to the general workload of the department.
Supervise junior medical staff in Breast Radiology
Provide radiological expertise in terms of advice for imaging and reporting.
Take part in the Radiology Audit, Governance, Consultant and Departmental Meetings & continuing professional development.
Prepare for and lead on discussions in appropriate MDTMs.
Annual CPR training is expected, along with other mandatory training.
Teaching:
Junior staff
Post graduate lectures to FRCR and University students of Physics and Science.
Undergraduate medical and dental students as part of their curriculum.
Trainee radiographers & advanced radiographic practitioners, nurses, physicists and pharmacists. Involvement in training radiology registrars is expected.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MB ChB (or equivalent)
* MBBS (or equivalent)
* Full registration with the GMC and licence to practise (or eligible for)
* Eligible for specialist register in Radiology
Clinical experience
* CCT in Radiology (or equivalent training) or within 6 months of attaining one at time of interview.
* Subspecialty training in Breast Radiology
* Evidence of continuing medical education
* Evidence of experience working in the NHS Breast Screening Programme
Teaching & training experience
* Experience of teaching to medical and nursing staff and other disciplines
Clinical Governance experience
* Understanding NHS management structures and the principles of Clinical Governance.
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
Management and Audit experience
* Thorough understanding of the principles of clinical audit
* Publication of audit results
* Willingness to participate in management activities
Research experience
* Understanding principles of research
* Proven track record in research
* Publication of research
* Success in obtaining funding for research
* Ability to use Microsoft office packages, e.g. Word, Excel & PowerPoint
* Ability to use patient information systems
