Estates and Campus Services is responsible for the security of the physical assets, staff, students and visitors of the University. We are recruiting for a Building Services Maintenance Fitter to inspect, test, fault‑find, maintain, service and repair installed HVAC mechanical building services within university properties.
Responsibilities
* Carry out statutory maintenance, reactive maintenance and servicing of HVAC building services plant and equipment under the instruction of the building services coordinator (mechanical).
* Work in accordance with the requirements of an appropriate “Safe Systems of Work” as an appointed Person in Charge.
* Participate in the operation of the Estates Department preventative planned maintenance (PPM) scheme and the associated management control system (help desk).
* Participate in the departmental standby call‑out system on a rotational basis and provide additional holiday relief or sickness absence cover and support to non‑engineering related call‑outs when requested.
Knowledge and Experience
* Demonstrable experience in fault‑finding, servicing and maintenance on a wide range of large‑scale industrial, commercial heating, hot water and general HVAC installations.
* Understanding of the working restrictions involved in live buildings, and specifically within areas where other relevant trades are likely to operate.
* Knowledge of HVAC building services technologies, air handling units, fan belts, drive motors, pulleys, plant, equipment and infrastructure.
* Knowledge of health and safety management systems, e.g. risk assessments, method statements, permits to work and safe systems of work.
