We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Nurse Associate, with a current NMC registration to join our team at Compass House.
This is a permanent contract of 34-38 hours per week, with a salary range of £14.50 - £15.60 per hour, depending on experience. The working pattern would be three to four days, 8am to 6pm, including a Friday, and Enhanced Access cover until 8pm on a Tuesday evening on a rota basis.
Main duties of the job
Working in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct, the post-holder will provide assessment, treatment, screening, health education services, and advice to patients.
The post-holder will work with reference to practice agreed protocols and guidelines, providing nursing treatments to patients both independently and in participation with nurse colleagues and general practitioners. The post-holder will have the required level of training and competence and will work within any necessary patient group directions where these are available, under the appropriate level of clinical guidance and supervision for the task.
Key responsibilities
* Management of chronic disease: identify significant abnormalities, develop and monitor individual management plans, and coordinate with patients and health professionals.
* Diagnostic monitoring and development of management plans.
* Therapeutic monitoring and ensuring compliance with treatments using a holistic patient‑centred approach.
* Wound care and management: assess routine wounds and trauma, support complex wound management (eg use of Doppler technique), and prescribe appropriately.
* Health promotion: gather lifestyle information, identify appropriate health promotion issues, and develop management plans.
* Health screening: recognise issues in women’s and men’s health, sexual health, and older people; undertake monitoring tasks (eg smears) and provide advice.
* Travel health: administer injections and provide guidance in accordance with guidelines.
* Immunisation: work with patients with complex immunisation issues.
* First contact: work independently or alongside the GP, making decisions and recommendations as appropriate.
* Treatment room duties: venepuncture, ECG, minor operations, assist the GP and undertake simple procedures, routine ear care, prescribing when appropriate.
* Mental health: communicate with key workers, administer prescribed therapies and monitor for side effects.
Person specification
* Experience: Demonstrable commitment to professional development, involvement in implementing and using protocols and clinical guidelines, working in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, multi‑skilled approach to chronic disease management, experience of working in primary care.
* Qualifications: NMC registration.
* Knowledge and skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of current national developments and trends in health care, quality assurance and practice development, clinical skills as part of Nurse Associate duties.
