Established over 35 years ago and members of the Federation of Piling Specialist, the range of disciplines offered primarily include the design and installation of bored CFA and rotary bored piling, contiguous and secant piled retaining walls and driven precast & steel piling.
Role Overview
FK Lowry requires a Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to join our estimating team. Based in Belfast with flexible UK / Ireland locations, the role involves advising on geotechnical design at tender stage for bored and driven piling, and preparing detailed Eurocode design submissions at contract award. Senior candidates should also have experience in bored piled retaining wall design. The position includes developing pile designs, preparing tender estimates, and occasional travel within the UK or Ireland for meetings.
What you'll do
The following reflect the main tasks associated with your position and are not intended to be exclusive or exhaustive.
* To take responsibility for all aspects of detailed Geotechnical Pile design at both at tender and when required at contract award stage.
* Working closely and constructively with Technical Director at tender stage to provide design support as required.
* Preferred candidate would also be willing to develop and prepare tender estimates for submission to the client.
What you'll bring
As a Senior Design Engineer, your main skills and experience will include:
Essential
* Third level qualification in Engineering, Bsc or equivalent.
* Min 5 years experience of Geotechnical design experience.
* Primary experience in all aspects of pile design including bored piled retaining walls.
* Proficient in use of key proprietary computer software packages such as Oasys suite which are pertinent to design
* Capable of producing quality design submissions and an ability to self check and produce accurate work
* The ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Desirable
* Chartered Civil Engineer
* Willingness to assist with the estimating process and issues of priced tender submissions.
* Full valid driving licence.
