Consultant Respiratory Physician specialist in Sleep and Ventilation
Permanent position, 10 PA's. Replacement post to provide a Consultant Respiratory Physician with special interest in Sleep and Ventilation, complementing existing teams. Post based at Aintree hospital site.
Main Duties
* Post-take ward rounds – including blocks running the 12 bedded Ventilation Inpatient Centre (VIC)
* Consultant responsibility for patients on a general respiratory inpatient ward
* Provision of inpatient respiratory advice and referrals
* Delivery of respiratory outpatient clinics
* On‑call duties: approximately 1 in 16 weekdays non‑resident on‑call; 1 in 8 weekends (two consultants); non‑resident with attendance for weekend and Bank Holiday posttake ward rounds; average attendance time 4‑6 hours/day; supported by junior medical staff and ANPs

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* MB ChB or equivalent medical qualification
* MRCP (UK) or equivalent
* CCT in respiratory medicine and GIM (General Internal Medicine) (or within 6 months)
* Full registration with GMC
Desirable
* Additional postgraduate qualifications
Eligibility Essential
* Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment
* Membership of Society of Acute Medicine
* Evidence of achievement of competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice
Academic & Research Skills Essential
* Research Skills: Demonstrates ability to undertake robust audit/research within team structure
* Teaching Skills: Demonstrates range of teaching techniques relevant to variety of curricula
Clinical Skills Essential
* Clinical Knowledge & Expertise
* Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
* Demonstrates the necessary range, depth and breadth of competencies specified in the acute and general medicine curriculum and applying to this post
