Management Accountant

A well-established and growing organisation within the construction/manufacturing sector is seeking a Management Accountant to join its finance team. This is a key role supporting the Head of Finance, offering broad exposure across financial operations, reporting, and analysis in a fast-paced environment.
The Role
The Management Accountant will play an instrumental role in ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations. You'll be responsible for maintaining robust financial processes, supporting decision-making through insightful reporting, and ensuring compliance with internal and external obligations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee and support the purchase ledger, ensuring accurate and timely invoice processing
2. Resolve finance queries efficiently across the business
3. Maintain and reconcile purchase ledger accounts, ensuring balances are followed up
4. Produce aged creditor reports and monitor supplier payment timelines
5. Manage fortnightly subcontractor payment cycles
6. Prepare and process supplier payment runs for approval
7. Process expenses, mileage journals, and credit card transactions with accurate job costing
8. Handle daily bank postings and monthly sales transactions
9. Maintain employee allowances, mileage logs, and tool registers
10. Manage the fixed asset register and monthly depreciation schedules
11. Prepare prepayments, accruals, and monthly stock reports
12. Deliver monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, and job costing analysis
13. Investigate cost variances and provide meaningful financial insights
14. Complete balance sheet reconciliations
15. Produce P11D data and support environmental reporting requirements
16. Ensure accurate filing and documentation of financial records
17. Provide support to the Head of Finance and assist with ad hoc projects
About You
18. Proven experience within a finance team, including production of management accounts
19. High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
20. Confident communicator with the ability to liaise across departments
21. Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
22. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
23. Experience using Sage 200 or similar accounting systems
24. Currently studying towards CIMA, ACA, or ACCA
25. A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to work

26. Background within construction or sector-specific financial processes
27. Experience in a manufacturing environment
