Circa: Salary - Salary Plan, 50,000.00 GBP Annual We're looking for a Senior Internal Communications Specialist (Channels) to join our growing Internal Communications team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This is an exciting moment to join us. We're building a new team and undergoing a period of organisational change, and while this role is initially fixed term, there is real potential for it to become permanent as our plans develop. As the Senior Internal Communications Specialist (Channels), you will partner with a select number of key business areas to support the delivery of the organisational and departmental comms strategies. Working closely with the Senior Internal Communications Specialist (Content), you'll design, deliver and develop a new channels strategy to ensure we have a channel mix that works for our audience and keeps pace with best practice. What you will be doing: Channels Strategy Development and Delivery Design and implement a channels strategy covering corporate comms (all-colleague emails, newsletters, intranet) and systems channels (Teams, Outlook) Conduct regular channel audits to assess performance and identify gaps or overlaps Establish governance, standards and publishing cadences to create a clear single source of truth Pilot new tools and features, gather feedback and scale what works Strategic Business Partnering Partner with stakeholders to develop and deliver communications campaigns aligned to organisational objectives Develop and maintain a partnership framework, including a tiered support offer Channel Operations and Governance Manage day-to-day channel operations, scheduling and deploying high-priority messages across email, intranet and collaboration platforms Clarify roles, workflows and handoffs to minimise single points of failure Maintain a central comms calendar to ensure transparency and avoid message collision Work closely with the Senior Internal Communications Specialist (Content) to keep channels and content strategy integrated Insight, Evaluation & Continuous Improvement Track channel analytics (open rates, intranet engagement, Teams activity) to inform planning Share insights with stakeholders and co-create improvements through regular workshops Keep pace with sector best practice and emerging platforms Inclusion and Accessibility Meet statutory obligations for accessible tools and systems Embed diversity, equity and inclusion considerations into all work, including Equity Impact Assessments At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate. Although this role is contractually based at our Cambridge or London office, you will be able to work from home within the UK. You will be expected to attend our Cambridge office quarterly for a team meeting, and attend the Cambridge/London office as and when required for business need. What we are looking for: Demonstrable experience in a strategic communications role, designing, delivering and measuring campaigns Proven track record of managing a multi-channel communications strategy (intranets, newsletters, internal social media and online engagement) Experience working in an internal communications setting Familiarity with Microsoft platforms including Teams, SharePoint and Viva Engage Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to distil complex information for diverse audiences Data-driven mindset with experience using analytics to inform channel planning Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience working across cross-functional teams Proactive, curious and comfortable with ambiguity in fast-moving environments If you are interested in this role, please apply before the end of the closing date.
