The Role
The role is strategic and operational, providing professional leadership, and influencing future service delivery in NHS Lanarkshire for identified sites. The post holder will have the professional lead for nursing/midwifery within their sites, ensuring standards of clinical practice, patient centred care and workforce development are in place to maximise the impact of nursing on service change and quality improvement.
The post holder will work closely with the Site Director and the Chief of Medical Services in providing visible leadership at both a site and NHS Lanarkshire level.
The post holder will contribute to the clinical, financial and staff governance arrangements ensuring safe, efficient and effective care, compatible with professional and national clinical standards.
The post holder will contribute to the corporate management of the Directorate, and assists the Divisional Director in achieving the Executive Directorate's objectives.
What You'll Bring:
Essential qualifications and training: Candidates must be registered nurses with the NMC and educated to or working towards a masters level, with professional and leadership knowledge gained through experience and continuous professional development. Desirable qualifications include a masters degree, formal leadership qualifications, and training in improvement methodology.
Experience and knowledge requirements: Essential experience includes professional leadership and management in the specialty, assessing training needs, quality improvement methodologies, resource management, service planning, project management, and effective leadership. Desirable experience covers clinical research or audit, operational management, strategic planning, and leadership roles at site or sector levels. Knowledge of NHS Scotland leadership frameworks, clinical guidelines, quality improvement, and strategy development is also required.
Skills and specific job requirements: The role requires strategic thinking, teamwork, leadership, specialist education provision, and organizational skills. Candidates must be flexible, able to cover multiple hospital sites, participate in senior manager on-call rotas, and have a driving license. Overseas applicants must meet UK NMC registration requirements, including language and competence tests.
