Overview
This is a leadership role within the South West Integrated Delivery Team, reporting to the Project Director for Bridgwater Tidal Barrier (BTB) and working with the Project Sponsor and delivery partners. You will join this major project at the start of the construction phase and lead in delivering an iconic infrastructure scheme of regional significance that increases flood risk protection, supports the environment and local economy.
Responsibilities
* Oversee BTB project managers, ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly understood.
* Provide technical expertise to embed best practice project management principles in change control, risk management and project governance.
* Ensure the project sponsor has confidence in delivery and a clear understanding of risks, issues and opportunities.
* Ensure appropriate escalation routes are followed for the resolution of critical issues.
* Embed an effective and collaborative Project Management Office for the construction phase.
* Enable collaboration across internal teams and delivery partners to ensure effective delivery.
An ability and willingness to adapt and respond to the project\'s changing needs is essential.

Experience, skills and qualifications
* A degree in engineering, project management or environmental discipline with a project management qualification and chartered membership of a relevant professional body.
* Proven track record of delivering complex construction projects or programmes in collaboration with others; ability to harness skills, promote innovation and drive performance.
* Extensive experience managing multiple stakeholders across all organisational levels; strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills.
* Leading multi-disciplinary teams on large, technically challenging projects.
* Understanding of government project delivery, business case requirements and funding rules.
* Ability to work collaboratively with senior users and delivery partners to identify and implement innovative solutions.
* Commitment to Health, Safety, Environment and Wellbeing in project delivery and on live construction sites.
* Knowledge of project governance and contract management; Flood and Coastal Risk Management awareness.
Other information
* Co-location in Bridgwater expected a minimum of 2 days/week; occasional travel to London/Birmingham/the South West may be required.
* This role has the potential to become permanent subject to business requirements.
