About the apprenticeship
Duties
• Schedule and monitor inbound and outbound shipments to meet operational and customer requirements.
• Liaise with carriers, freight forwarders and suppliers to confirm bookings, resolve delays and optimise transport routes.
• Maintain accurate delivery timelines and proactively communicate changes to stakeholders.
• Coordinate returns, collections and reverse logistics processes.
• Support daily warehouse activities including goods-in, goods-out, picking, packing and loading/unloading vehicles.
• Operate warehouse equipment (e.g. pallet trucks, forklifts—if trained) safely and in line with procedures.
• Ensure accurate labelling, storage and movement of stock to maintain inventory integrity.
• Assist with stock counts, cycle counting and investigation of discrepancies.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment in line with health and safety standards.
• Prepare orders for dispatch, ensuring correct packaging, documentation and quality checks.
• Update ERP/WMS systems in real time to reflect stock movements, receipts,and dispatches.
• Support reconciliation activities and stock accuracy reporting.
• Prepare and verify shipping documentation including delivery notes, manifests and customs paperwork.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and maintain accurate records for audit purposes.
• Act as a key contact for logistics queries and escalate service issues where required.
Additional information
The logistics operator plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient, safe and cost‑effective movement of goods across the supply chain. This role supports operational planning, transport scheduling, inventory accuracy and supplier/customer communication. The postholder will work closely with procurement, warehouse operations, carriers and internal stakeholders to maintain service levels, optimise logistics performance and uphold compliance standards. To assist with the smooth running of the Warehouse area, including the driving of forklifts, picking orders and taking inbound deliveries.

Qualifications
Minimum entry requirements: GCSE grades C or above in English, Maths and IT. Customer Service, Admin or Warehousing experience is desirable. • Capability in I.T and learning new systems
