Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Chip Shop Assistant to join our team in providing excellent customer service and supporting daily operations within our establishment. This role offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the food and hospitality industry, with a focus on maintaining high standards of food safety and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive, and passionate about delivering a positive dining experience.
Duties
* Assist customers with their orders, providing friendly and efficient service
* Prepare food items before shop opens in accordance with established recipes and safety standards
* Serve food and beverages to customers in a timely manner
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the shop area, including kitchen and dining spaces
* Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities
* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations at all times
* Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system
* Restock supplies and ingredients as needed throughout shifts
* Support kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks when required
* Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt service
Requirements
* Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is advantageous but not essential
* Knowledge of food safety standards and practices
* Basic maths skills for handling transactions
* Experience with food preparation, serving, and kitchen operations preferred
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
* Good communication skills and a friendly demeanour towards customers and team members
* Ability to work well under pressure during peak hours
* Time management skills to ensure smooth workflow throughout shifts
