What we want:
We currently require semi-skilled Highways Operative to join our busy Highways Maintenance Operation function based in central Derby.
A Highway Operative is required to carry out reactive and programmed maintenance on the public highway.
We are looking for candidates with a can-do attitude, knowledge and experience relating to highway maintenance techniques, Civil engineering practices, knowledge of tarmac and Concrete materials, along with a base understanding of New Roads and Streetworks Act 1991.
A base knowledge of hand lay, and machine lay, of bituminous bound materials will be an advantage. A knowledge of excavation repair and maintenance of footways and carriageways, Installation of signs, street furniture, kerbing, edging, drainage and setting out to line and level is desirable. A current driving licence and a willingness to work outside in all weather conditions are essential for this post. A HGV entitlement would be desirable but not essential.
