Overview
Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council are seeking a full-time Housing Strategy Officer to join their shared housing strategy team. The role operates across both local authority areas. Salary: Grade 7 (£36,363 - £40,777). Contract type: Permanent. This is an opportunity to progress experience and contribute to place shaping in the two councils.
Location: Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. Reporting to the Senior Housing Strategy Officer.
Responsibilities
* Lead on ad hoc research and project management to advance place shaping in both Councils, including collating data for government statistical returns.
* Collaborate with partners and agencies to develop holistic approaches to homelessness prevention and housing advice.
* Support the development of key housing strategies and take responsibility for delivering actions and projects.
* Conduct research to understand supply/demand issues across housing tenures and client groups for both Councils.
* Ensure systems are in place to collect and monitor internal and external housing performance information (e.g., performance indicators, statistics).
* Research and assess new legislation and guidance from central government and its impact on council activities.
* Assist in preparing funding bids for affordable housing, support schemes and related community projects.
* Support the Senior Housing Strategy Officer in monitoring the work of and reviewing performance of registered providers.
Qualifications and Skills
Educated to level 4, or an equivalent qualification in a subject related to the role. Experience in managing projects and working with partner agencies to achieve common objectives. Experience in a political environment, including direct contact with elected members, and an awareness of public sector funding. Ability to work to deadlines, communicate effectively, and think strategically with the capacity to manage multiple areas of work. Strong relationship-building skills with a wide range of stakeholders and partners.
