Wakefield Inclusion Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Support Service (WISENDSS) are seeking a Specialist Learning Support Officer to work within our Deaf Resource Provisions.
We are looking for a motivated individual to provide excellent support to children and young people within one of our two resource bases:
• Secondary Base is at Castleford Academy;
• Primary Base is at The Rookeries Carleton Junior and Infant School, Pontefract.
Staff may be assigned to either of these provisions according to pupil need/numbers.
The successful candidate will be supporting deaf children with different degrees and types of deafness and modes of communication either within the resource base and/or mainstream class.
We are looking for motivated professionals to support the work of the team with:
1. BSL level 2 qualification or higher;
2. Good communication skills;
3. Experience of working with children with special educational needs and disabilities, particulary with Deaf learners would be an advantage however training will be given to the right person;
4. Ability to work as part of a team with ability to also show initiative;
5. Commitment to helping children learn and make good progress;
6. Optimism, sense of humour and ability to solve problems;
7. A willingness to learn;
8. An excellent work ethic.
This post is term-time only 32.5 hour/week
