Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this post is Monday - Friday 9am-5pm, no on call. This is a fixed term post for 2 years.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our General Adult Psychiatry team in Greater Glasgow and Clyde. The successful applicant will play a role in providing inpatient care and treatment for severe and enduring mental health conditions in General Adult Psychiatry, supported by an enthusiastic CMHT and Consultant Psychiatrists. The post is based at Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Greenock and will mostly involve providing care within the Acute Assessment Unit (AAU). Opportunities for further training and development are strongly encouraged.
Location: Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Greenock, with work within the Langhill Clinic at Inverclyde Royal Hospital as applicable.
Responsibilities
* Provide inpatient care and treatment for severe and enduring mental health conditions in General Adult Psychiatry.
* Work as part of a team supported by a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and Consultant Psychiatrists.
* Deliver care primarily within the Acute Assessment Unit (AAU).
* Engage in opportunities for further training and development as encouraged.
Qualifications and requirements
* Applications are invited from doctors who have completed at least FY2 and are seeking to develop a career in psychiatry.
* Broad general professional training including General Medicine or GP vocational training is desirable for doctors wishing to gain further General Adult Psychiatry experience.
* The post requires GMC registration and a licence to practice in the UK.
* The post is open primarily to applicants who do not require a work permit to take up employment in the UK. Applicants requiring a work permit will be considered only if no suitable UK or EEA national is identified.
