Job Summary
Maverick Controls is looking to recruit a motivated Trainee / Apprentice Control Panel Builder to join our engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their career in electrical engineering or control systems who is eager to learn, develop hands-on skills, and gain industry-recognised qualifications while working alongside experienced professionals.
The successful candidate will receive structured training in the assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical control panels, while contributing to real-world projects within a supportive workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the build and wiring of electrical control panels under supervision.
* Learn to interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and panel layouts.
* Support the installation of components such as relays, contactors, PLCs,
terminal blocks, and VFDs.
* Carry out basic wiring, cable routing, and trunking work to company standards.
* Help with labelling of components and cables.
* Participate in testing and inspection of panels as part of the build process.
* Maintain tools and keep the workshop clean and organised.
* Follow health & safety procedures at all times.
* Attend training sessions and college courses as part of the apprenticeship programme (if applicable).
* Progressively take on more responsibility as skills develop.
Skills & Attributes
* Strong interest in electrical engineering or automation.
* Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
* Basic understanding of electrical principles (preferred but not essential).
* Good attention to detail and practical ability.
* Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
* Good timekeeping and reliability.
* Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
